Silver Fawn Club (Brisbane) – REPORT ON THE 49TH ANNIVERSARY DANCE The Silver Fawn Club’s 49th Anniversary Dinner Dance was held on Saturday, 29thJune at the Souths Sports Club, Acacia Ridge. This year things were done a bit differently and the Dance was held in a lovely venue on the South side with a band from Sydney and our debonair DJ Dennis in action. The hall was decorated in a Red and Silver theme with help from the Tucker family, Loos family, Weerasinghe family, our Treasurer, Susan and Ovil de Franz and I must say it did look magnificent with the tiny sparkles lighting up the ribbons to the balloons. We had 150 people registered to attend the dance. Unfortunately, not many of the older Club members were able to attend. However, it was great to see some new members and plenty of guests. All who attended were offered a “welcome” ...

Darlings! Tiffany’s was the place to be! – Story: Marie Pietersz (The Write Touch), Melbourne; Photo credits: well wishers And what a glamorous event it was, this Brunch at Tiffany’s mid-year event hosted by the HFC PPA Bamba (Aust) Inc at the Oakleigh Hall on 14 July. The atmosphere was electric and the venue filled to capacity with 170 sophisticated ladies (and some elegant gents, I might add). The ladies were real eye candy, looking stylish in their favourite little black dresses, cigarette pants, pencil skirts, fabulous strings of pearls, updo styles with hair ornaments, and cigarette holders. The entrance to the venue was decorated like a Tiffany store and inside was elaborately bedecked with all the trimmings and touches to represent the theme, with no effort spared, thanks to a very talented committee and helpers. The costumes, make-up and hair did real justice to the beautiful and famous ...

Apology to Motherland – Photos thanks to Roy Grafix It is well known that, when we gained nominal independence from Britain, our export income on local products exceeded a billion pounds. The imitators of the white rulers who obtained administration of Sri Lanka from the white colonialists managed to spend all the treasury reserves and since then to mortgage the Nation by holding each person in the country to a credit bond over Rs. 500.000. Our own people ruled us alternatively and accelerated the demise into a precipice, since the adaptation of 1978 Constitution and the Executive Presidency. Some significant facts we inherited from the rule of deceitful politicians either white dressed or dark suit dressed: Importing rice for local consumption by discouraging local farming communities although we exported rice overseas in the ancient times. Importing salt from India while we are surrounded by salt in abundance and having a ...

BLACK rocks Sydney at the Blue & Black Dance – Photos thanks to Roy Grafix Click here to view the full album of photos on elanka Facebook page Ryde Civic Centre Sydney, an old favourite venue for Sri Lankan dances was once again the place to be on June 15th 2019 for the Thomian Ball. Deviating from the traditional formal theme and keeping with the winds of change, the semi-formal dress code was welcomed by many though the sartorial splendor of sarees gave colour and dazzle to what was to be a great night of entertainment.    On arrival the guests were warmly ushered into a magnificently decorated hall. Plenty of time for chatter over entrees got the capacity crowd ready for Emcee Duke Ramachandran’s warm welcome followed by 2 minutes of silence (Easter bombing remembrance). Thereafter it was history in the making – yes, many elements and workings parts ...
