Manu Ranga was our first concert as a class and commemorates our 10th anniversary as one of Sydney’s traditional Sri Lankan dancing schools. We were so incredibly lucky that whilst this was our first concert as such, that it was completely sold out.  Manu Ranga was a result and product of over 6 months’ work of hard work, preparation and care from our students, parents, committee and most importantly our teacher Ishara. On the night we performed over 20 items as a school and were able to bring to the stage a diverse range of acts which showcased all forms and styles of dance in Sri Lanka. Super performance by Annesley Malawana and the Super Chimes at the Lions Club spectacular – BY TREVINE RODRIGO IN MELBOURNE It’s been many decades since the Super Golden Chimes dominated the Sri Lanka music scene with folk and Pop music that has traversed the generations. The ultimate at the time for traditional favourites, that music has lived on thanks to one of its original members, Annesley Malawana, who continues to keep these Golden memories alive. Annesley and his own set up, the Super Chimes, came, saw, and conquered Australia with their breathtaking reproductions of that famous band from way back when, and are about to depart after sell out performances around Australia. Resurrection Church Community dinner dance at the Palmyrah Hall, Dandenong – photos thanks to Trevine Rodrigo Resurrection Church Community dinner dance at Palmyrah Hall in Dandenong was a blast as Church goers and friends from the Keysborough parish enjoyed their annual get together. It was a night of fun and merriment as parishioners showcased their dance moves to the fabulous music of After Dark. In the thick of things and showing off his impressive dance moves was Fr. Brian Collins, Parish Priest at Resurrection Church which certainly did not go unnoticed. Jolly J’s provided a sumptuous smorgasbord dinner which complimented a well coordinated event. The Annual CDF charity dinner dance at Springvale Town Hall – Photos thanks to Trevine Rodrigo (Melbourne) The Annual CDF charity dinner dance at Springvale Town Hall was a wonderful event. Aimed at providing vital medical aid In Sri Lanka, this huge effort from the Melbourne based organisation also sends Ambulances from Australia through the generosity of the Royal Flying Doctor service. The dance, like many before them, was a huge success apart from the enjoyment of fantastic music from Esric Jackson and Replay 6 and a delectable sit down dinner from Desmond Foulstone’s Silverline catering.
