Swagata Sen’s presence at Cricket NSW comes at a pivotal moment, coinciding with Australian Cricket’s recent launch of their Multicultural Action Plan (MAP). As part of the MAP, The SQUADS aim to spotlight the remarkable journeys of multicultural cricket enthusiasts contributing to Australian cricket.

Sen’s journey into the heart of Australian cricket is a tale of passion and perseverance. From her childhood days, cricket held a special place in her heart, igniting a flame that would guide her career path. Her unique perspective, shaped by her Indian roots and global experiences, enriches the discourse surrounding the sport, fostering understanding and unity.

Now, as a communications specialist at Cricket NSW, Sen often finds herself in the presence of her cricketing favourites such as Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood. In this role, she is serving as a bridge between cultures, ensuring that cricket resonates with communities across Australia.

In an interview, Sen expressed her pride in being part of Cricket NSW during this transformative period.

“Cricket has been a constant in my life since childhood, possessing the remarkable ability to unite people from all walks of life,” she remarked.

“I began my professional journey as a sports correspondent for an Indian newspaper, and I consider myself fortunate to still be working in this field, only now in Australia. I love my new role, for the opportunities it gives for me to contribute to the growth of cricket in this part of the world.”

“Australia is such a diverse country and cricket is an important part of building that connection. Initiatives such as the Multicultural Action Plan can create a more inclusive and diverse cricketing landscape for everyone.”
