Iconic Joe Walles is no more. - BY TREVINE RODRIGO IN MELBOURNE

It was indeed a sad occasion when iconic Joe Walles bid adieu to the world after a period of illness.  He was 94.

He was a caterer of distinction and a man that etched his name among many, over several decades for his classy presentation and delectable food preparation.

Always an unassuming personality, Joe Walles depicted the epitome of a man with a God gifted talent who made it his own in the hospitality industry.

And he achieved this in no uncertain terms over the long journey spanning several decades, serving it up to the best clientele in the world.

What set him apart from the rest  was his level headed demeanour which did not discriminate between royalty and a a lesser human, treating everyone with similar respect.

Joe Walles has contributed more than what can be described in a few paragraphs. But the legacy he leaves behind is unparallelled in the catering industry in Australia and around the world after humble beginnings.

A large gathering congregated at Good Shepherd Church in Wheelers Hill to bid farewell to a wonderful man that left this world loved and revered for his unstinting contribution to many.

May his soul rest in eternal peace.
