JOSEPH VERNON FORBES – celebrates his 100th Birthday

Vernon Forbes, 99th Birthday - JOSEPH VERNON FORBES - celebrates his 100th Birthday - eLanka

Joseph Vernon “Vernon’ Forbes, celebrates his 100th Birthday tomorrow, Saturday, October 7, 2023. Born, Colombo, 7 October 1923. Son of William Alban Forbes & Myra Pollocks.

Educated at: St Sebastian’s College, Moratuwa, St Peter’s College, Colombo and St Sylvester’s College, Kandy.

Military Service: Royal Army Service Corp. Enlisted Colombo and served in India, East Africa – Kenya, Mombasa, Nairobi, Ethiopia and Tobruk. Demobbed in Colombo In 1946.

Joined the CGR, as a Guard in 1946, retired in 1970 as Head Guard.

Married: Vilma Rudolph, 12 August 1950 (They celebrated their 73rd Wedding Anniversary recently).

They have three children: Marie Stainwall (dec), Verville and Vylette Raymond.

They migrated to Melbourne in 1970 and lived at Gladstone Park.

In Melbourne, Vernon was employed by Australia Post at the Melbourne Mail Centre.
