Keepsakes - by Charmaine Candappa

A twig of driftwood with remnants of sand
Clinging to its peeling skin.
Rocks worn smooth by waves
Edges dulled and rounded
In different shades of sand and lake.
Stones ancient treasures from the earth
Smooth, delightful, and of profound beauty.
Intrigued am I of the mystery
Of the conch shell’s echo of the wind in my ear,
As I carry home the scent of the lake
In my tote duffel bag.
