I had the opportunity of attending this concert and it was an amazing experience, and I thoroughly enjoyed every moment of it. The energy of the crowd and the music was simply electrifying. The bands played their famous hits, and the crowd sang along to every song. The sound quality was top-notch, and the stage setup was also incredible.
This concert gave me the thought once again to ask myself, ‘Where are the starving people? According to the World Food Programme, 6.3 million people, or over 30 percent of Sri Lanka’s population, are “food insecure” and require humanitarian assistance. Of these, around 5.3 million people are either reducing meals or skipping meals, and at least 65,600 people are severely food insecure. That was the situation as reported on Sep 19, 2022.
The scenario has changed so quickly, and the growing young generation is rejoicing again as you can see from the audience of this concert.,
The leading performers in this concert are Chandraleka, Rookantha, and their daughter Raini. Over a thousand mostly hyperactive young once, girls and boys were seen enjoying the envy of the oldies. Rookantha Goonatillake is a Sri Lankan singer, musician, and songwriter. One of the most influential musical artists in Sri Lanka, Rookantha started his career as a solo singer in the late 1980s after a few stints as a keyboard player. He frequently performs duets with his wife, Chandralekha Perera.
