Nutrient-Rich Chickpea Flour Roti  for a Healthy Breakfast – By Malsha – eLanka

Chickpea Flour Roti - eLanka

Ingredients

  • 2 cups of chickpea flour
  • 1 cup of whole wheat flour (or atta)
  • 3 tablespoons of olive oil (or vegetable oil)
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 1 teaspoon of chili powder
  • 2 tablespoons of skimmed milk or yogurt
  • 1 tablespoon of finely chopped curry leaves
  • 1 cup of water

Instructions:

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the chickpea flour, whole wheat flour, spices, and salt.
  2. Gradually add olive oil (or vegetable oil) and yogurt while kneading the mixture.
  3. Slowly incorporate water into the mixture, little by little, until you achieve a non-sticky dough. You can apply a bit of oil to your hands to help with kneading.
  4. Cover the dough with a clean cloth and let it rest for 20 minutes.
  5. Divide the dough into lime-sized balls and roll them into circular shapes using a rolling pin.
  6. Cook the bread on a griddle, searing both sides until they are well-cooked.
  7. Serve the nutritious chickpea flour Roti with a delicious fish curry or Dhal curry.

Note:

  • You can use olive oil or vegetable oil.
  • Whole wheat flour or atta can be used interchangeably.
  • When adding water, do so gradually to avoid making the dough too sticky.
