Remembering Radcliffe Anthony Athelstone Ferreira 1946-2011 – by Patrick Ranasinghe

 

Patrick_RanasingheRadcliffe Anthony Athelstone was Born in Sri Lanka on 24 September 1946 and Passed away in New York NY United Starts on 16 May 2011. Born and educated in Colombo Ceylon (Sri Lanka) Raddy was active throughout college with a career in music drama and sports. Raddy began public performing in a small band at age 16 which led to a burgeoning career as a dance band musician that began at 17 playing piano and guitar with some of Ceylon’s larding rock/jazz bands of the 1960s.

He eventually fronted his band “ The Raddy Ferreira Combo” which eight of the country’s finest musicians performances included ballroom dancers, concerts, and radio broadcasts, He was touring and played with international artists such as Dionne Warwich, George Benson, Andy Williams, Jack Jones, Neil Sedaka, and the Village People during their Hilton Cabaret Seasons. Raddy and his band were based in NY and  regular perfumers on the Cruise Ship Circuits
