 “Serious Suicides”

mental-health

I really cannot understand suicide for a start. To take one’s own life, no matter what the circumstances are, is SO useless. The really sad part of the situation lies with the relatives and loved ones of the unfortunate one, who has preferred to ‘end-it’, by using a cowardly road out.

Then, I remember, as a child, reading about many Japanese fighter pilots, having been told that they MUST commit ‘Hari-Kari’, in order to win World war 2. These young guys gladly gave their own lives,  diving headfirst into Ships & buildings, but I dread to think about how each one of them really felt, taking that last dive. Never, ever to go home again ?.

More serious  suicides occur then,

AFTER too many military people RETURN home, the reason being that, having volunteered to go out in a bid to save their Country, they are not adequately looked after, when they return, sometimes badly wounded. Treated then, like 2nd class Citizens, they sometimes take their own lives. THIS SHOULD NEVER HAPPEN. The situation in Australia has happily taken a turn for the better, but there is still a long way to go.

To get back to my original reason for this story. Again, as a very young boy, in Ceylon, I would enjoy seeing butterflies around our garden, mostly yellow ones flitting around. I often wondered where they would go to, after they left our premises, and did get my answer many years later. Apparently, there was this “Butterfly Mountain”, also called “Samanala-Kanda”, where ALL Butterflies ended up,smashing themselves on the side of the rock, also called ‘Siripade’. Why they did this, is anybody’s guess. Maybe they were just too tired to go any further. If anyone knows the true reason for these tiny suicidees, to give them the benefit of my love for wordsmithing, I would appreciate it.

NOW, we have PILOT WHALES beaching and killing themselves off in the hundreds. What makes these huge sea-beasts (some of them, anyway), swim onto beaches and lie there, waiting for humans to rescue them ?. I cannot understand why. Yes, they are ‘Pilots’ as well, but Hari-Kari ??. Will somebody please inform me about it  ?, thank you, in anticipation.
