Sri Pada pilgrimage season to begin tomorrow

Measures have been taken to deploy Public Health Inspectors (PHIs) and Police personnel to monitor the pilgrims arriving in Sri Pada from tomorrow (29), Chief Incumbent of the Sri Pada Vihara Venerable Bengamuwe Dhammadinna Thera said.

Officials will be deployed in areas such as Heramitipana, Andiambalama and Udamaluwa.

Further, devotees will only be granted permission if a clearance certificate has been issued by the local PHI officer in compliance with the health regulation, the Governor of the Sabaragamuwa Province, Tikiri Kobbekaduwa said.

However, due to health constraints, dansals and poojas will not be permitted during this season of Sri Pada, Kobbekaduwa added.
