“DOCTORS OF OLD CEYLON” – by Des Kelly There were many “Medical Magicians” in the Ceylon of old, as I remember them, some, proudly from my own family, but, to give  just two examples, Doctor and Mrs. Rutnam, who were husband and wife, were a couple of Medical Marvels who I cannot ever forget,  as they, as a team, brought my late wife Cynthia out into the World, to later, bring out our two sons, Michael  and Douglas as well, twenty odd years later. I was also told a true story about this Doctor Allan Rutnam who, during the 1940’s !!, operated on a baby successfully, while the child was still unborn, to save the life of it’s mother.
