Vision Care Celebrates Young Creativity at ‘Paata Siththam’ Art Competition Awards

Vision Care Celebrates Young Creativity at ‘Paata Siththam’ Art Competition Awards 04

January 2025, Colombo:   Vision Care, Sri Lanka’s largest vision, hearing and eyewear solutions provider, successfully concluded the ‘Paata Siththam’ 2024 Art Competition, a vibrant celebration of young artistic talent held under the theme “Seeing the World of Tomorrow”. The initiative emphasizes Vision Care’s dedication to the comprehensive development of young minds and their vision.

Designed to inspire and cultivate creativity among Sri Lankan schoolchildren, the competition featured five categories: Primary, Post Primary, Junior, Senior, and Senior Secondary. Participants used various artistic mediums to depict their imaginative visions of the future.

This island-wide initiative attracted an incredible 10,000 submissions, out of which 1000 were selected for the second round—a live drawing session held in Colombo, Galle, Ratnapura, Embilipitiya, Anuradhapura, Kurunegala, and Jaffna. These sessions offered children from across the nation an opportunity to showcase their creativity in real time, ensuring inclusivity and representation for all regions.

A panel of distinguished judges meticulously evaluated the artwork, culminating in an Awards Ceremony at the Royal Institute International Auditorium in Nugegoda. The event honored winners for their remarkable artistic achievements with cash prizes and valuable gifts. Top honors included 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place awards in each category, along with Excellence Awards, Distinction Awards, and Merit Awards. Noteworthy winners included Abises Amarasinghe in the Primary Category (Grades 1-2-3), Matheesha Adhikari in the Post Primary Category (Grades 4-5-6), Randidu Udiranga in the Junior Category (Grades 7-8-9), Vidarshana Nirmani in the Senior Category (Grades 10-11), and L.K. Dimalka Induranpitiya in the Senior Secondary Category (Grades 12-13).

Speaking at the ceremony, Harsha Maduranga, General Manager of Vision Care Optical Services, stated, “The enthusiasm and talent displayed in the ‘Paata Siththam’ competition are a testament to the boundless creativity of our young generation. We are thrilled to provide a platform that not only nurtures their artistic abilities but also inspires them to envision and express a brighter tomorrow. Vision Care is proud to support such initiatives that empower the youth and contribute to their holistic development”.

As the competition wraps up on a high note, Vision Care extends its deepest appreciation to all participants, parents, teachers, and partners for their invaluable support. The organization reaffirms its commitment to fostering creativity and inspiring the next generation of Sri Lankan artists through similar initiatives in the future.
