Today, I am going away from touching on a health topic, but I wish to talk about the state-of-the-art automobile workshop, in the suburbia of the city of Kandy. I was invited to declare open this automobile repair workshop in March this year. Please share this progressive enterprise that serves the motoring industry. Let me tell you the historical importance of this suburb Kundasale in the Kandy district. In ancient times this was a town but today it is classified as a suburb. The town is 7 km to the southeast of the center of Kandy. The population is about 500,000.

Sri Vira Parakrama Narendra Singha 1798 till 1815 AD) was the last Sinhalese King of Sri Lanka of the Kingdom of Kandy. He was also known as the “Prince of Kundasale”. This king was the successor of his father Vimaladharmasurya II. His mother was a Royal Concubine called Muthukude Devi, who was from a local noble family. According to historical sources, his father’s other wives became jealous of him. So they conspired to kill him and his mother while they sailed across the Mahawali River at Lewella ferry and got drowned. But a young man was going nearby and saved both of them.

After this incident, King Vimaladharmasuriya II kept his beloved son at Kundasale Palace for safety. Because of this, he was called as Prince Kundasale. Today, Kundasale is a busy township. Now I am going through this busy town for the opening of a state-of-the-art automobile repair workshop just opened by the entrepreneur Sujeeva Palliaguruge a resident in Kandy owning a series of hotels and
Jewelry outlets called Oak Ray series. Now I am at the site and let’s see the social activities at the opening ceremony of this auto-center. There was a large gathering of local people invited to participate and it was a very pleasant afternoon social event. Let’s get into it.
