There are no petrol queues, and the roads are chock a block with vehicles, drivers creeping through any space on the road without vehicular collisions. In the face of the economic crisis in a country with high inflation, life goes well in the cities, with the usual hustle and buzz. We spent one evening and a night at the Cinnamon Grand hotel in Colombo. I sat in the lobby and watched the number of guests entering and strolling around, some chatting in groups, others walking with families, enjoying a relaxed ambience.
