Chamari Athapaththu introduces Sri Lankan Cuisine to Sydney Thunders

MELBOURNE: Weber Women’s Big Bash League is not only a platform for competitive cricket but also a stage for cultural exchange, as Sydney Thunder’s batter, Chamari Athapaththu, organized a team outing to a local Sri Lankan restaurant, offering her fellow Sydney Thunder players a mouthwatering taste of the island nation’s diverse cuisine.

England’s fast bowler Lauren Bell expressed her delight at discovering the flavors of Sri Lanka, particularly favoring the Cheese Rotti, a savory flatbread stuffed with cheese, while Australian all-rounder Claire Moore developed a newfound fondness for Cuttlefish, a popular seafood dish.

Australian cricketer Ebony Hoskin relished the Chicken Kottu Roti, a Sri Lankan favorite known for its unique blend of chicken, vegetables, and roti, while wicketkeeper-batter Tahila Wilson, who had never tried Sri Lankan food before, expressed her gratitude to Athapaththu for the delightful culinary adventure.

Athapaththu’s initiative to introduce her teammates to Sri Lankan cuisine not only strengthened team bonding but also provided the players with a unique and memorable cultural experience during their Women’s Big Bash League campaign.
