Ingredients
- 2 cups of chickpea flour
- 1 cup of whole wheat flour (or atta)
- 3 tablespoons of olive oil (or vegetable oil)
- 1 teaspoon of salt
- 1 teaspoon of chili powder
- 2 tablespoons of skimmed milk or yogurt
- 1 tablespoon of finely chopped curry leaves
- 1 cup of water
Instructions:
- In a mixing bowl, combine the chickpea flour, whole wheat flour, spices, and salt.
- Gradually add olive oil (or vegetable oil) and yogurt while kneading the mixture.
- Slowly incorporate water into the mixture, little by little, until you achieve a non-sticky dough. You can apply a bit of oil to your hands to help with kneading.
- Cover the dough with a clean cloth and let it rest for 20 minutes.
- Divide the dough into lime-sized balls and roll them into circular shapes using a rolling pin.
- Cook the bread on a griddle, searing both sides until they are well-cooked.
- Serve the nutritious chickpea flour Roti with a delicious fish curry or Dhal curry.
Note:
- You can use olive oil or vegetable oil.
- Whole wheat flour or atta can be used interchangeably.
- When adding water, do so gradually to avoid making the dough too sticky.
