Research study exploring mental health in the Sri Lankan community

Download the PDF file .

To whom this may concern,

We are conducting a survey of the Sri Lankan community in Australia to learn how they seek help for mental health concerns. The emotional health of immigrants and their family is recognised as an important part of a successful life; however, little is known about mental health in the Sri Lankan community. The survey is a research project conducted by Western Sydney University Clinical Psychology Masters student Ms Makavitage Ravina Perera (Ravina) and supervised by Dr Roy Laube. The survey asks participants to respond to six situations described in brief examples. We will then ask about where people think they would seek help for themselves or their friend or family member. The survey can be completed in English or Sinhala.

We are seeking your assistance with this project by forwarding it to your members and through your online networks to as many Sri Lankan-Australians as can be reached. All we ask is that you send our invitation (attached) to your member list or database, and also mention the project and include the link in any newsletter or other communication you publish.
