Spicy Beef Biryani Delight – By Malsha – eLanka

Ingredients:

  • Beef: 1 kg (cleaned & cut into small cubes)
  • Onions: 2 large (finely diced)
  • Green Chilies: 4-6
  • Ginger & Garlic Paste: 3 tbsp
  • Biryani Masala: 1 small packet
  • Chilli Powder: 1 tbsp
  • Cumin Powder: 2 tsp
  • Coriander Powder: 1 tsp
  • Curd or Unsweetened Yogurt: 1/2 cup
  • Salt: to taste
  • Cardamom & Cloves: 5 each
  • Bay Leaves: 3
  • Coriander Leaves: as required
  • Mint Leaves: as required
  • Cashews & Raisins: as required
  • Basmati Rice: 750 g
  • Ghee or Butter: as needed (or a good oil)

Instructions:

  1. Marinate the beef with chilli powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, ginger garlic paste, biryani masala, yogurt, squashed green chilies, and salt. Set it aside for 1 hour.
  2. Wash and soak the basmati rice for 30 minutes.
  3. Heat ghee or butter in a pan, add diced onions, and fry until golden.
  4. Add the marinated beef, mix well, and cook for a few minutes.
  5. Add enough water to cook the beef until tender.
  6. Add cashews, raisins, bay leaves, coriander leaves, mint leaves, cardamom, and cloves. Mix gently.
  7. Drain the soaked basmati rice and add it to the mixture on the stove. Mix to combine all ingredients.
  8. Cook for about 3 minutes over medium heat, then add enough boiling water to cook the rice completely. Cover with a lid and cook until done.
  9. Garnish with additional cashews, raisins, coriander, and mint leaves.
  10. Serve this delightful Spicy Beef Biryani with your favorite side dishes.
