The former Consul General in Sydney, Australia Lakshman Hulugalle passed away in Sydney (14 May 2022) Mr. Lakshman Hulugalle has been receiving treatment in the Intensive Care Unit for nearly two weeks due to an illness. Mr. Hulugalle also served as the Director-General of the Media Center for National Security during Mahinda Rajapaksa’s presidency. Sources said that steps have been taken to bring the body of Mr. Hulugalle to Sri Lanka. Celebration of Sri Lanka’s 73rd Independence Day Anniversary in Sydney   The Consulate General of Sri Lanka in Sydney organized a formal event to celebrate Sri Lanka’s 73rd National Day Anniversary on 4th February 2021 at the official residence of Consul General.    The programme started with the hoisting of Sri Lankan flag by Consul General Lakshman Hulugalle and followed by singing of National anthem of Sri Lanka and National Anthem of Australia.
