Milka first Sri Lankan gymnast to qualify-by SUSIL PREMALAL Source:Dailymirror Sri Lanka’s first gymnastic Olympian (Tokyo 2020), Milka Gehani de Silva, has qualified for the World Artistic Gymnastics Championships 2023. She is the first Sri Lankan to qualify for the championship, which will be held from September 30 to October 8 in Antwerp, Belgium. The 20-year-old secured her spot to compete after placing 10th at the Asian Gymnastics Championship 2023 in Singapore. In the Singapore Asian Championship, she qualified for the World Championship title after finishing 10th out of 58 players. It is an 8 week course and another 8 weeks of advanced training. The total is 4 months. We have planned its contents  and the first batch of 6 has finished and so has the 2nd batch of 6. The ones who went through the whole course and successfully leart to speak English were 5. 7 fell off on the wayside, maybe they learnt something.  The 5 who passed speak and write better English than I ever expected.  jwe are now on the look out to share this course with others.
