Spicy Buttered Cuttlefish Delight – By Malsha – eLanka

Hot Butter Cuttlefish - eLanka

 

Ingredients:

  • 500g Cuttlefish
  • 2 eggs
  • 50g bread flour
  • 50g corn flour
  • Salt, to taste
  • Pepper, to taste
  • Cooking oil
  • 1 tbsp chilli flakes
  • 1 tsp chilli powder
  • 2 tomatoes, sliced
  • Fish chillies or bell peppers
  • 2 onions, sliced into circles
  • 5 cloves garlic, crushed
  • Butter
  • Sugar
  • 1 tsp soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp tomato sauce

Instructions:

  1. Begin by cleaning the cuttlefish and slicing it into either round or strip shapes. Marinate with a pinch of turmeric powder, salt, chili powder, and a touch of chili powder.
  2. In a bowl, mix bread flour and corn flour. Dredge the cuttlefish in this mixture after dipping them in beaten egg.
  3. Fry the coated cuttlefish until golden brown. Set aside.
  4. In a pot, heat some butter and oil. Sauté crushed garlic and white onion until fragrant.
  5. Add pieces of chili, chilli powder, a bit of sugar, pepper, and salt. Pour in two tablespoons of water and let it simmer.
  6. Stir in tomato sauce and soy sauce, then add the fried cuttlefish.
  7. Toss in sliced tomatoes, onions, and fish chillies or bell peppers. Stir well to combine.
  8. Once cooked, remove from heat and serve hot. Enjoy your spicy buttered cuttlefish delight!
