“MONKEY-CLONES” by Des Kelly What a good idea. Folks, let us “clone” all the flora & fauna, now close to extinction, but Human-Clones ?, let us leave them severely alone, we have too many “humans” on this Planet right now, anyway. This is why, in the not too distant future, there may well be a “Cross-Breed” of Humans and Martians, so what should we call them ? . My choice would be “Marmen”. Just think about it. We do need many more of the recently cloned cute monkeys. SRI LANKA NEWS IN BRIEF (JANUARY 2018) Compiled by Victor Melder It has been estimated that four kilos of heroin are consumed daily by 45,000 addicts in Sri Lanka. Dangerous Drugs Control Board (DDCB) Chairman Prof. Ravindra Fernando made this revelation during a media conference at the DDCB auditorium. Prof. Fernando said the addicts consumed an estimated 1,478 kilos of heroin annually. Heroin is mostly smuggled into the country in Indian and Pakistani fishing vessels. Cannabis is illegally grown in an estimated 500 ha in the Eastern, Uva and Southern provinces of Sri Lanka, according to the DDCB. Prof. Fernando said a special programme to eradicate drug menace by 2020 was being formulated by the government with the cooperation of the police, DDCB, the Excise Department, the Department of Prisons, the Sri Lanka Customs, the Coastal Protection Authority and the armed forces. Australia grants Sri Lanka Rs.3.8 billion in assistance to strengthen good governance for growth Source: Colombo Page The Governments of Sri Lanka and Australia Tuesday signed a regulatory agreement for AUD 31 million (Rs. 3.85 billion) grant assistance for a four-year program to strengthen good governance for growth in Sri Lanka. Secretary to the Ministry of Finance and Mass Media Dr. R H. S. Samaratunga and Australian High Commissioner for Sri Lanka Mr. Bryce Hutchesson signed the agreement on the 30th of January 2018 at the Ministry of Finance and Mass Media. The program will support activities that improve the policy formation and delivery capabilities of government at national, provincial and local levels to bring about inclusive economic growth, the Finance ministry said in a statement.
