”THE WINNER” – by Des Kelly I had never seen an L/P (Cover) that described it’s entire contents so thoroughly, stating that Bobby Bare sings Lullabys, Legends, and Lies, but because I rather liked Bobby’s rendition of certain songs, decided to include one of my favourites on KELLY-KLASSICS. This Country song is, once again, different from the usual love songs, happy & sad, & a variety of other stories, heard by Country-Music fans all over the World. I chose this song because It tells the story of a “Winner” and, at the moment, we do need a few of them. Do not take too much notice of the singing capabilities of Bobby Bare, but boy !!, can he tell a story. Please listen to this song which tells us that “winning” is not everything, it usually comes at a cost. Bobby Bare tells it beautifully.   Desmond Kelly. (Editor-in-Chief) e’Lanka. ...

SUNDAY CHOICE  – HAPPY FATHER’S DAY “Train up a child in the way he should go—but be sure you go that way yourself.”  “One father is more than a hundred schoolmasters.”  “A man ought to live so that everybody knows he is a Christian…and most of all, his family ought to know.”  “My father didn’t tell me how to live; he lived, and let me watch him do it.” A child once said, ” The greatest gift I ever had, came from God. I call him DAD!”. It’s true that any man can be a father but it takes only one special person to be a Dad. God, our Father in Heaven loved us first and He loves us unconditionally. SUNDAY CHOICE – IS YOUR CROSS TOO HEAVY TO BEAR? “Do not fear any of those things which you are about to suffer. Indeed, the devil is about to throw some of you into prison, that you may be tested, and you will have tribulation ten days. Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life” (Rev. 2:10). Experiences in life can take a beating on the faith of Christians. The saints in Smyrna, in the first century, were on the verge of experiencing severe persecution. John wrote this epistle to encourage them to not quit, but to press on. Whether you are a student, faculty or staff, you will experience your share of tribulations, trials, or troubles in this life. There may occur times when you will think that God is unfair with you by giving you a cross you can’t bear or much larger ...

Valentine’s Day in the light of Christian admonishment on Love – by Oscar E V Fernando Valentine’s Day-VD-originated as a Christian feast of the early Church but later this was coined by folk traditions and now remains a cultural, religious, and commercial celebration of romance and love in many regions of the world-especially of the Christian tradition. So is the meaning of VD described loosely on Google.   It is the writer’s opinion that over the long span of years of Christianity, some adherents have continued to believe in the original teachings of creation and love namely-that a human being was created in the image and likeness of the Creator and that the Creator is the very essence of Love-and some have swayed away from these traditional and Faith Filled beliefs mainly in the Creator and that of VD itself and society finds itself turmoiled in thought-word and deed!    ...

Sacrificial Love – by Oscar E V Fernando If you feel affection to your neighbor or your romantic partner-it is concluded as love-is it love flowing from the gentle nature of man-the very ingredient he/she is made of-in the creator’s stature and original design and accepted in faith by the so called unwise and the simple-following the admonition to be like children? is that divine plan of pure love-now contaminated-needing a determined effort to find this pearl of great price only at a price and sacrifice? they say they have fallen in love-whereas in many cases it would appear they are in a trance with self-hypnotism-adoring each other with a hypnotic make believe do we not see that some of these cooing love birds when faced with their first litmus test in bearing mutual sacrifices- stumble and fall-a common instance being the arrival of a child-when the molly coddled son/daughter now turned ...
