Churches, mosques and synagogues can now open and hold services under the NSW road map out of lockdown, but only those fully vaccinated against COVID-19 are meant to attend. Once the 80 per cent Sydney target is reached – likely by October 18 or 25 – then anyone can attend places of worship regardless of their choice to have a vaccine. Celebration of Sri Lanka’s 73rd Independence Day Anniversary in Sydney   The Consulate General of Sri Lanka in Sydney organized a formal event to celebrate Sri Lanka’s 73rd National Day Anniversary on 4th February 2021 at the official residence of Consul General.    The programme started with the hoisting of Sri Lankan flag by Consul General Lakshman Hulugalle and followed by singing of National anthem of Sri Lanka and National Anthem of Australia. The traditional oil lamp was lit by the invited guests including representatives of Sri Lankan Associations in Sydney. FIRST NATIONS AT FIRST LIGHT ON AUSTRALIA DAY 2021 IN SYDNEY For the first time on Australia Day, the Sydney Opera House sails have been lit up at dawn with Indigenous art as a poignant recognition of Australia’s First Nations people. Shortly after first light, the Aboriginal flag was raised alongside the Australian flag on the Sydney Harbour Bridge. Nimal Bandara, Consul General of the socialist republic of Sri Lanka is leaving us after working in his duties just for over a year. He assumed duties at the Consulate General’s Office in Sydney on 16 October 2019.
