All less affluent students were anxiously stayed in sheer anticipation. When the promise was about to get off the grounds there were protests from opposition those tablets are not going to help students in their studies and that they would get educated in other areas apart from assisting in their basic studies. This was a huge disappointment for majority of the less affluent students. The promise with all the spade work made is not going to get off for the sheer disappointment of many students.    The previous government too instead of carrying out activities to resolve the urgent needs of people exhausted billions of rupees on ...

“BACK HOME AGAIN” – By Des Kelly They say that a change is as good as a holiday, so here, for a change, is a poetic change that beats any holiday that I could think of, right at the moment.            Once again, the Author is unknown, for reasons best known to themselves, of course, but the “work” on this poem, simply called “Home” is superb, in my opinion, and I have written many meaningful poems in my day. Here it is, ladies and gentlemen, as kindly sent to me, by my good friend Arthur Speldewinde. This will certainly bring back some precious memories.           “IF I COULD FLY AWAY”.          Desmond Kelly. (Editor-in-Chief)  e’Lanka.     ...

Of course, there are millions of Authors too, BUT, there was, is, and will be,  only the ONE WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE. ...

History atop a hillock-TEXT & PIX BY MAHIL WIJESINGHE The Kiripokuna waterhole, a perennial source of water Source:Sundayobserver Kiripokunahela, another magnificent archaeological site in the Southeast, was the next port off call on the Kumana tour. Near inaccessible because of the jungle overgrowth, Kiripokunahela lies on a flat-topped rocky boulder, nearly 260 feet above the Kumana jungle. The site is located about three kilometres East of Bambaragastalawa and eight kilometres from the main park office at Okanda. The jungle terrain and its location within the Kumana National Park make it one of the least visited archaeological sites. Not surprisingly, it is not included in any of the safari itineraries of the Park. Official rarely give permission to visit the site, since there is no motorable access way. It is too risky to walk the half kilometre in the thick jungle. Initially, we too were denied permission. However, our persuasive ways ...
