Rewriting Srilanka history based on scientific findings – By Dr. Gnana Sankaralingam Image Source : tamilnet Mahawamsa which was first written by Bhikku Mahanama, has documented the history of Srilanka since the 3rd century CE. Though the record has been accepted as correct in most instances, there were discrepancies in para-history and proto-history. The concept of origin of Sinhala race as a result of union of a male lion with female human which is not biologically possible, is not acceptable. As for proto-history, Mahawamsa is largely silent. It does not say about the people who inhabited the land and their civilisation. Modern advances have exposed data contrary to entrenched beliefs. It is postulated by geologists that Srilanka had once ...

Round the Kandy Lake the vehicular pollution is quite problematic and injurious to the inhabitants living close to the road-side, surrounding the lake. The pollutants emanating from the exhaust pipes of vehicles, including buses, Lorries and motor cycles are filled with numerous fluids, which harm the environment in the cases of leakage or improper disposal. The incidence of chest problems is much higher than elsewhere according to personal communications. If the road blockage at the ‘Maligawa’ is removed division of traffic movements may ease part of the problem. Buddha:- Activity gets you busy. But productivity gets you free. 2. Ananda :- Why has life become complicated now? Buddha :- Stop analyzing life… It makes it complicated. Just live it. 3. Ananda :- Why are we then constantly unhappy? Buddha :- Worrying has become your habit. That’s why you are not happy. 4. Ananda :- Why do good people always suffer? Buddha :- Diamond cannot be polished without friction. Gold cannot be purified without fire. Good people go through trials, but don’t suffer. With that experience their life becomes better, not bitter. 5. Ananda :- You mean to say such experience is useful? Buddha :- Yes. In every term, Experience is a hard teacher. She gives the test first and the lessons ...
