Egoda Kelaniya Kithsirimevan Rajamaha Viharaya-by Gamini Kariyawasam කැලණිය රජ මහා  විහාරය ඓතිහාසික වටිනාකමක් සහිත පූජනීය ස්ථානයක් ලෙසින් බොදුනුවන් අතර  ප්‍රකටය.එනමුදු  කැළණි විහාරය අසළින්   ගලා බස්නා කැළණි  නදියේ එගොඩහ ගං තීරයේ පිහිටි කිත්සිරිමෙවන් කැළණි විහාරයේ ඓතිහාසික වැදගත්කම පිළිබඳව තොරතුරු ,කාලයේ වැල්ලෙන් වැසීගොස් ඇති සෙයක් හැඟීයයි. කැළණි රජ මහා විහාරය ඉදිරිපිට පාලමෙන් එතරවූ සැනින් ,පාරේ වම් පස ,කැළණි නදී තෙර දක්වා ව්‍යාප්ත බිම් තීරයෙහි මෙම පුජනීය ස්ථානය පිහිටියේය. බුද්ධත්වයෙන් අටවැනි වර්ෂයේ දී චූලෝදර මහෝදර නාග ගෝත්‍රිකයින්ගේ  අරගලය  සංසිඳුවීම පිණිස  බුදුහිමියන්  කැලණියට  වැඩම කිරීම පිළිබඳ විස්තරය මහාවංශය- ප්‍රථම භාගයේ  63-75 ගාථා මගින් ප්‍රකාසහිතය. මෙකී නාග ගෝත්‍රික දෙපිරිස සබැඳිව අදහස් දක්වන දීපවංස කතුවරයා ඔවුන් ඉතා බලසම්පන්න, මහත් ඍද්ධියෙන් යුක්ත පිරිසක් බව දක්වා ඇත. එසේම ක්ලේෂයන්ගෙන් ගහන වූ චණ්ඩ පරුෂ ගතිවලින් යුක්ත වූ ද්වේෂයෙන් අගතැන්පත් වූවන් ලෙස දක්වා ඇත. මහෝදර හා චූලෝදර දෙදෙනා යුද්ධයට එළඹෙන්නේ ද ඔවුනොවුන් තුළ පැවති අධික මානය නිසා බව දීපවංස කතුවරයා අවධාරණය කරයි. ධර්ම දේශනාව අවසානයේ  කලහය සන්සිදවීමෙන් අනතුරුව  බුදුන් වහන්සේ කැලණි ගඟෙන් ස්නානය කළ බව සඳහනි.  ස්නානය පිණිස උන්වහන්සේ  පරිහරණය කළ නානකඩය හෙවත් ‘ජලසාටිකාව‘ නිධන් කොට මණිඅක්ඛික නා රජු  කිත්සිරිමෙවන් කැලණිය රජමහා විහාරයේ දාගබ තැනවීය යන පුවත  ජනප්‍රවාද ගතව පවතී. බුදුන්වහන්සේ  පරිහරණය කළ නානකඩය හෙවත් ‘ජලසාටිකාව‘ නිධන් ගත මෙම දාගැබේ මල් පුදසුනට පහතින් , ස්ථුපයේ  පාදමට  සමීපව කුඩා කුටියක් දැකිය හැකිය.එම කුටියේ රන්මුවා පැහැයෙන් සුදිලෙන,ඉපැරණි කලාත්මක ලියවැලින් අලංකෘත බිත්ති හතර මධ්‍යයේ, රුවන්මය ශ්‍රීපාද පද්ම යුග්මය  පිහිටියේය. දාගැබේ මල් පුදසුන සහ  යටින් දිස්වන ශ්‍රීපාද යුග්මය ස්ථාපිත කුටිය. නාග ගෝත්‍රික ලාංජනය ද මෙහි පසුබිමෙන් දිස්වේ මෙම වෙහෙරට  කිත්සිරිමෙවන් යන නාමය ව්‍යවහාර වන්නට වුයේ, අනුරාධපුරයේ රාජ්‍ය විචාළ  කිත්සිරිමෙවන් ( 303- 331) රජු විසින්,තත් වෙහෙර  පිළිසකර කරවූ හෙයින් බැව් පැවසේ. එනමුදු කිත්සිරිමෙවන් නාමය ,මෙම විහාරයට ව්‍යවහාර කිරීමට වෙනත් හේතුන් පාදකවූ බැව් අසන්නට ලැබේ. පොළොන්නරුවේ දෙවන ගජබාහු රජ දවස ( 1131–1153) දක්ඛිණ දේශය පාලනය කළ මානාභරණ කුමරුන්ගේ සහෝදර කීර්ති ශ්‍රී මේඝ මාහිමිපාණන් මේ විහාරය පිළිසකර කරවූ නිසා එම නම, මෙම වෙහෙරට භාවිතා වන්නටවූ  ලැබුණු බවටද ජනප්‍රවාදයක් පවතී.  විල්ගම්මුල නාහිමියන් විසින්   ක්‍රිස්තු වර්ෂ 1333 දී ස්ථාපිත කළ  පුවරු ලිපියක ,ගම්පොළ යුගයේදී ජරාවාස ව පැවති දාගබ, පිළිම ගෙය සහ බෝධි ප්‍රකාරය අලගක්කෝණාර නම් අමාත්‍යවරයා තම අනුශාසනා පරිදි පිළිසකර කරවූ බැව් පැවසෙන Image...
